Headline of the Day

It’s time to circle back on summer

Life gets busy, the work calendar fills up, and by Friday you’re exhausted and thinking “I’ll plan out that hike for another week.”

This is how so many people in DC end up missing out on incredible destinations just a stone’s throw from DC, even after years in the city. No longer!

Let DC Day Trips take you to Harpers Ferry and Shenandoah National Park in August.

What's Inside

Coming up August 1

Book your trip to Harpers Ferry

Harpers Ferry is the perfect last-minute day trip for the dog days of summer. It’s just 1 hour from DC and has ample options nearby for pre- and post-hike hang-out spots.

If your idea of a Saturday outdoors is a view-filled hike, historic charm, and well-earned post-hike beverage, then join us for August 1st. (P.S. bringing a friend saves you both $$$).

We’ll be hiking right over this bridge! Source: DC Day Trips

Coming up August 15

Waterfalls in Shenandoah National Park

White Oak Canyon in Shenandoah National Park is home to beautiful waterfalls and natural pools perfect for wading and swimming.

This is going to be our most adventurous DC Day Trip yet! Shenandoah is one of the top destinations DC Day Trippers said they wanted to visit, so I’m going to personally make sure it’s an unforgettable experience.

On Saturday, August 15th, we’re hosting a full-day experience (leaving DC at 7:30 am to beat the crowds) including hiking to three of the seven waterfalls, snapping views from Skyline Drive, and relaxing in gorgeous rural Virginia afterwards.

How DC Day Trips Works

Save your spot, confirm, go!

Every DC Day Trip starts with you. Your sign-ups decide whether a trip runs, and your preferences help me curate the pace and the plan.

Once you sign up, I’ll emai you to confirm. About a week before, you’ll receive your pre-departure packet.

Group size matters as much as hitting a minimum trip size. We want people to feel excited to meet new people, but no one to have that lost-on-a-field-trip feeling. To keep things personal and fun,

all trips are under 15 people.

DC Fay Trip

A personal side quest in Colorado

The only thing I love more than leading outdoors adventures for folks in DC, are searching out new adventures on my own.

Last weekend, I took a quick DC “Fay Trip” out to Colorado to go burro racing with my friends. That’s trail running with a donkey.

This is my second burro race, and I feel like this is a nearly perfect sport for me. If you love the outdoors and animals, burro racing is a delight.

At 9,447 ft elevation, my 7.3 mi race felt pretty intense, but the experience and the views were unforgettable.

I felt honored that I could introduce another Washingtonian to his first burro race this year. I’d love to continue that trend into 2027 if I can! 🏃🏻‍♀️🫏
