Headline of the Day
Our first day trip to Harpers Ferry

What's Inside
Recap
It’s not just about the trails
I started DC Day Trips this year for two reasons. 1) To get more Washingtonians outdoors, and 2) To build a community of like-minded people in a natural space, rather than a virtual one.
The reviews I’ve received from the last few trips touched my heart because I can see that it’s working, even though it’s still early days.
I especially loved reading this review from last week. When our main trail was suddenly closed for repairs, the group had to pivot to a totally different hike. But that didn’t dampen the experience. We were able to create intentional moments of connection anyway.
“In the hyper-social media and tech-dependent world I live in, DC Day Trips was a much welcome reprieve and opportunity to go out and make connections with new friends. The way the DC Day Trips team builds a highly personable, relatable, and comfortable atmosphere is what makes it very unique--the experience transformed strangers into friends by the end of the day.”

Reviews like these are what motivate me to do more for this community. That’s why I’ve added one more "day trip” to my calendar this month.

On Saturday, I’m partnering with Next Her to host a free outdoors experience near Cleveland Park metro. Next Her brings women togehter from across the DMV into intimate, low-cost settings to forge real connection.
This hike is only open to Next Her members for now. You can join the group on their website, if you’re interested!
Coming up August 15
Waterfalls in the Blue Ridge Mountains

If you’re ready to jump into your new DC outdoors community this summer, August 15th is your next chance! This is going to be our most adventurous DC Day Trip yet!
The whole day is built so you can get into nature and show up as yourself with other amazing people.
On Saturday, August 15th, we’re hosting a full-day experience (leaving DC at 7:30 a.m.) including hiking to three of the seven waterfalls, snapping views from Skyline Drive, and relaxing in rural Virginia afterwards.

Harpers Ferry Redux
Tubing along the Potomac
Not everyone's in the mood to wake up at 6:30 a.m. and hike a mountain, and that’s okay! This one is for the folks who like to sleep in a little, but still want to see the world beyond their smartphone. We will start at a merciful 10 a.m.
On August 29, we're headed back to Harpers Ferry to get into the water. The only scroll or feed you’ll see are the trees and birds as you float by. Imagine: one hour or more away from screens with just nature and an awesome travel crew.
